Guilin
is located in the northeastern part of Guangxi
Zhuang Autonomous Region which is a province
in the south of China. Guilin is regarded
as the most picturesque city in China, with
its unique landscape, green mountains, crystal
clear waters, marvelous limestone scenery
in unique caves, Guilin is absolutely not
to be missed if you travel to China. Guilin
is in the subtropical and monsoon zone with
four distinctive seasons.
Gulin has a population of 470.000, with
a history of more than 2000 years. literally,
the name of Guilin means "the forest
of sweet osmanthus trees"in Chinese.
The area has the largest population of ethnic
zhuang nationality, one of the 56 nationalities
in China.
Guilin is in subtropical and
monsoon zone with warm and moist climate.
The altitude is 140-160 meters. All this
makes Guilin a unique natural experience
for the visitor.
Major Guilin attractions include
Li
River, Elephant Trunk Hill, Reed Flute
Cave and Seven-Star Park. The Li River meanders
through Guilin from north to south. Guilin
lies on the western bank of the Li River.
The Li River Cruise starts from docks to
the south of Guilin, as the boats depart
at 09:40 it is true that the only practical
place to stay the night before is in Guilin.
During the river cruise, gorgeous Karst
peaks give you surprises at each bend of
the limpid river under the blue sky. You
will also see water buffalo patrol the fields,
peasants reap rice paddies, school kids
and fisherman float by on bamboo rafts.
