Huangguoshu Waterfall

Huangguoshu Waterfall, Guiyang tourThe Huangguoshu Waterfall, located to the southwest of Guiyang, is the largest waterfall in Asia with 316 feet high and 346 feet wide. In flood season, the huge stream of pouring water makes the precipitous cliffs trembling. It is particularly suburb when rainbows arch from the plunge pool of the waterfall under the shining sun. In dry season, water would be separated into several streams falling down from the overhanging cliffs like a fairy maiden's elegant hair, charming and graceful. On top of the precipice opposite the waterfall stands the Pavilion for Enjoying the Waterfall. There is a 134 meters long water-curtain cave behind the waterfall down to the foot. Being in it, one can see the plunging water like numberless strings of pearls flying down over one's head and also the rainbows in the fine drizzle. It is really a spectacular view.

Under the waterfall is the Xiniu Pool. As the water plunges into the pool, mist of water droplets rises. Diffracted with sunlight, it produces marvelous rainbows. Behind the waterfall and 131 feet above the Xiniu Pool, there exists a natural 440 feet deep water-curtain cave. Watching the water's flying down and the rainbows' rising inside the cave is an unfogettable experience.

The whole mountainous area offers many stunning views. In addition to the main waterfall, this area also features 18 smaller falls, 30 karst caves, an enchanting Tianxing Park, and an amazing Aquatic Stone Forest.
